Snow again and just after Valentines. My pumpkin seeds inside my last pumpkin were sprouting so planted them into some soil. Wonder of wonders they are growing and healthy sucking up the one patch of light in my kitchen.
This year we will be starting our second medicine garden and building a few more boxes for the garden. I love spring; wish I didn’t hate snow so much.
Sprouts are growing in the kitchen, and underneath this snow pack, when it melts the violets are growing. Good in soups and good in salads. God makes this world so wonderful. Even more wonderful because of the plants that are outside in this universe. I love being a herbalist. I would encourage anyone to check out the Dominion Herbal Website.
What is a herbalist? Myself I am a Chartered Herbalist certified by the Dominion Herbal College. I am also aware that there are other herbalists that have taken training elsewhere. I have been involved with herbs and the woods for as long as I can remember. Three times in the Castlegar Fall Fair I took first prize with my herb exhibits. I think I was around 8 when I started. Once I had cataloged seventeen varieties of buttercup in the West Kootenay area.
Herbalists love plants because plants are our medicines. Every ailment you have can be answered by plants outside your door. I believe that. Sometimes my concoctions are inspired by that philosophy.Recently I was given some powdered golden seal a priceless gift, and added to that some plantain harvested from my garden and comfrey leaf. I also added some lavender oil for scent and for its value to the skin. The cream is exquisite and helped my husbands bruises from work heal rapidly, and my own blister from the garden hoe quietly disappear. I think a page for products will be added in the future along with one for herbal consultations. I thank God for light and love. Welcome to this site.
